The GCW Interim Heavyweight Championship was introduced in the winter of 2007, following controversy surrounding the injured Jake O'Reilly and his persistance to keep the GCW National Championship while unable to compete. To keep the heavyweight division competitive, this championship was awarded to the winner of an 8-man single elimination tournament at Season's Beatings '07.
